Loch Aluinn nestles on a picturesque croft at the base of the majestic Red Cuillins, overlooking the beautiful Loch Sligachan. The modern spacious ground floor self-contained apartment is family owned and offers all the comforts of home. Suitable for couples.
Visit Scotland graded 11 areas of the accommodation as 5 star 'exceptional' standard in 2009.
AccommodationEntrance Porch, Lounge, Kitchen/Dining Room, Toilet/Shower Room, 1 Double Bedroom, 1 Study/computer room, and 1 Child Cot by prior arrangement. There are 7 steps to the entrance. Continental quilts, all bed linen and towels are provided free of charge. Bedrooms, corridors and public rooms are fully carpeted or tiled and equipment includes: Ceramic hob, electric oven, microwave oven, slow cooker, washing machine, fridge freezer, toaster, sandwich press, colour television x 2, video, DVD player and HiFi. Books, games, videos, maps and information leaflets are provided along with a welcome pack which includes tea, coffee, sugar, milk, biscuits and a bottle of wine. The house is a no smoking zone with electricity and central heating throughout the apartment provided at no extra charge. No pets please. Private car parking is on site and the bus stop is situated within a quarter of a mile. Groceries can be purchased for your arrival - please give at least two days' notice. For the hill walker, Loch Aluinn is a veritable paradise with the awe-inspiring Black Cuillin Hills (2.5 miles) providing challenging walking and climbing experiences, whilst the popular Glen Brittle pathway offers excellent walks.
Within walking distance of Loch Aluinn is Sconser Golf Course , as is excellent seasonal fishing on the nearby Loch and River Sligachan. Also within walking distance is the Raasay Ferry terminal, offering trips to the beautiful and peaceful island of Raasay.
For those wishing to venture to the Outer islands of Harris and North Uist, day trips are available from Uig.
A variety of wild life including seals, otters, deer and numerous wild fowl including buzzards, herons and Golden Eagles can often be seen.
For a night out, Sligachan Hotel is within 3 miles and Sconser Lodge Hotel is within 3/4 mile walking distance. They offer a variety of whisky malts and local beers along with bar and dining room meals in a friendly atmosphere.
Loch Aluinn is a perfect centre for visiting the many Castles, Brochs, craft shops, potteries and museums that Skye has to offer. Nearby Portree offers shopping opportunities, a public swimming pool and Heritage centre.
Loch Aluinn is situated centrally on Skye, providing an ideal touring base, and should you wish any advice, information or assistance then we are just next door.
Loch Aluinn is 11 miles from Portree.
From the Skye Bridge, the Mallaig to Armadale ferry, or the Glenelg to Kyle Rhea ferry, head for Broadford. From Broadford continue along the A87 to Sconser. Drive past the main village of Sconser, until you come to a sign advertising our accommodation.
Please drive carefully when accessing our driveway as it is on a sharp incline from the main road. When coming along the Sligachan/Portree road you are advised to make use of the lay-by to allow for a wider turn onto our access.
