Bed and Breakfast Accommodation in a traditional Scottish croft house on a working farm.
Drynoch Farmhouse sits majestically on the shoreline of the Loch Harport and River Drynoch Estuary. It is the main base of a working hill farm, which has been in the Campbell family since 1925. We stock over 400 Blackface sheep and have 16 head of Beef cattle. We pride ourselves on being one of the few ‘Traditional’ old style farmhouse B&B’s on Skye. This gives our guests a very homely atmosphere where they can feel comfortable in either our spacious ‘Family’ room, which has two single beds and a double bed, or our Double Room. Both bedrooms have fantastic views out over the Drynoch Estuary and look towards both the Red Cuillins and the Black Cuillins. Or why not just take a few moments and listen to the silence… and relax, in front of a real coal fire in our guest lounge after a hard days sight seeing!
Drynoch is ideally situated for those who love walking or climbing as we are only 6 miles from Sligachan and 10 miles from Glenbrittle. We are also only three miles from the village of Carbost, home to Skye’s own famous whisky distillery ‘Talisker’.
Your bedroom window is the perfect spot for watching the local wildlife in their natural environment without even getting wet! From here you can watch the tide coming in and out. The estuary is home to and abundance of wildlife some of which includes otters, seals, herons, and oystercatchers and even to a pair of swans who return year after year.
Fishing for Sea or Brown Trout & Salmon is available locally on the river Drynoch and Borline Lochs. Permits are available locally for a small fee.
There are two golf courses within easy reach.
Drynoch Farmhouse offers an ideal base for touring the rest of the Island.
All bedrooms have tea and coffee making facilities & hairdryers. There is a cosy guest TV lounge for guests with a real coal fire, overlooking Loch Harport. We have board games & videos for wet or windy days.
Our ‘Skye Special’ cooked breakfasts have now become a topic of conversation amongst our guests, as many don’t know whether to eat it or climb it! Or if you prefer you can opt for our continental option, which has a selection of cereals, fruit juice, yoghurt, fruit and cheeses along with toast, tea and coffee. What ever you decide on you won’t be disappointed leaving Drynoch farmhouse after your visit.
