Elgol, Isle of Skye

Self-catering Accommodation

Burnside Cottage is situated in an elevated position set back from the road, overlooking Elgol's jetty, beach and burn. To see the exact position of the cottage see www.ealaghol.co.uk/pictures/elglquay/, 3rd picture from the top, cottage on the right.

Several small lobster and prawn fishing boats anchor for the night (during the summer) in the loch, which along with some superb sunsets over the small Isles completes the most romantic setting.  Whilst the beach is pebbly the small burn with its waterfalls and pools is stunning. The cottage was built around the turn of the century, it has 3ft thick stone walls, and sloping ceilings. Whilst the kitchen and lounge have beamed ceilings, not original however, they and the flames of the little morso stove add to the cosy atmosphere of this 'little home on the hill'.

There are many walks in the area which are outlined on an information sheet left at the cottage. The area is ideal for birdwatching, walking, climbing, fishing, painting, photography or just doing absolutely nothing but relax!

The cottage is let on a weekly basis from Saturday to Saturday. Shorter breaks may be possible outside the main season.

The prices and payment terms are shown on the tariff page. Enquiries to Tim Dodd.

Accommodation

The accommodation, which is for four people, comprises 1 twin and 1 double (there is a double sofa bed in the dining room extra guests if necessary). The beds are supplied with duvets and pillows but linen is not provided unless it is specifically asked for, which does unfortunately incur an extra charge.

The dining room seats six, with oak chairs and dining table, window seat and a large inglenook fireplace, (chimney sealed off however but it makes a lovely feature in the stone walled room).

The kitchen is well equipped with microwave, washing machine, fridge, freezer, tumble drier, electric cooker, and juicer. Decor is gorgeous with beamed painted ceiling and terracotta walls.

The lounge houses a morso squirrel wood/coal burning stove, two settees and beamed ceiling complimented with oak stained beamed ceiling. There is Sky TV also available.

The heating for the bedrooms and dining room is electric night storage heaters.

Payphone in the hallway and bar-b-que in the garden also a decked area around the front door to while away the glorious sunset evenings.

The bathroom comprises white opaque pine boarding incorporating bath, wash basin, electric shower and wall heater. The view from the window and indeed the shower is westerly towards the Island of Soay and Loch Scavaig fishing boat moorings, a very special sight to be held from your shower!!!!
